FIRINGS:
several firings after low biscuit, to a maximum of six, adding maybe a T material-based slip or suchlike in layers, until the desired surface texture is achieved. Firing range is 900°C to 1160°C. Spontaneous firing/glaze effects such as those achieved by raku, pit and smoke firing are not really an option, as most pieces take hours, many hours, to make and broken pieces are taboo.
The narrow range of clay body and technique is self-imposed and not restricting but liberating. |
